Taylor Swift Historic Fourth Album of the Year Win
Taylor Swift made history at the Grammys on Sunday by winning the Album of the Year award for her album “Midnights.” This is her fourth time winning this big award, making her the artist with the most wins ever. Before this, Swift was tied with famous singers Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon, who each won Album of the Year three times. Swift previous wins were for “Fearless” in 2009, “1989” in 2015, and “Folklore” in 2021.
During Sunday’s show, Swift was surprised and thrilled when she got the award from Celine Dion. She said, “I would love to tell you that this is the best moment in my life but I feel this happy when I finish a song or when I crack the code to a bridge that I love.” She added that winning the award is great, but the real joy comes from making music because she loves it so much.
Swift thanked her friend and producer, Jack Antonoff, who she called a “once-in-a-generation producer.” They worked together on “Midnights” and several of Swift’s other albums. She also thanked singer Lana Del Rey, who worked with her on the song “Snow on the Beach” from the winning album.
With this win, Swift ties with Barbra Streisand for the most nominations by a female artist in the Album of the Year category, with six nominations in total.
The Grammy win was the highlight of Swift’s night, but she had more good news to share. She announced that she’s releasing her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” in April. “Midnights” was a big success when it came out in October 2022. All the songs from the album made it to the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time.
Swift had six Grammy nominations this year, including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Pop Vocal Album. She also won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights” earlier in the night. This shows how much she’s accomplished in the music world.
