Gypsy Rose Blanchard Regrets Involvement in Mother’s Murder Plot

Date:

In a recent interview, Gypsy Rose Blanchard expressed remorse for her role in planning the murder of her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. After serving an 8-year sentence for second-degree murder, the 32-year-old opened up about the emotions she experienced during that time.

Gypsy shared that she felt panicked and desperate as she faced an upcoming larynx procedure she strongly opposed. The surgery aimed to address her high-pitched voice, believed by doctors to be linked to a breathing issue. Despite expressing her reluctance, Gypsy claimed her mother paid no attention and insisted on the surgery. This moment fueled Gypsy’s strong desire for a change in her life.

Back in 2015, seeking an escape from her mother’s suspected Munchausen by proxy—a rare mental illness involving a caretaker fabricating symptoms—Gypsy asked her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to take her mother’s life. Gypsy detailed the painful and unnecessary medical treatments Dee Dee imposed on her, including the use of a wheelchair and feeding tubes.

Reflecting on her choices, Gypsy admitted to considering alternatives to murder but struggled with identifying what she could have done differently. She pondered whether to inform her relatives about her actual health or to disclose everything to the police during her conversation with Nick.

Despite attempting to move forward, Gypsy still carries a heavy sense of remorse for her actions. She emphasizes that she never takes pride in what happened and regrets it every single day.
